Mullion / Transom Sections - Acoustic Infills

Curtain wall systems commonly employ mullions, transoms or other frame components formed from hollow metal sections. Frequently these are produced in extruded aluminium. Such sections afford a relatively low sound reduction value, which consequently can limit the achievable sound reduction index (SRI) for the whole curtain wall system.

Siderise offer a range of bespoke rectangular or shaped infills that can be inserted into the hollow sections prior to installation. The infills are normally produced from sound absorbing acoustic foam but are also available in resin-bonded rockfibre. Additionally, the infills can incorporate surface or internal mass membranes to further enhance the SRI.

A further benefit provided by the use of these infills is a substantial enhancement in the thermal insulation efficiency of the curtain wall.

Due to the wide variation in types of hollow sections employed, we recommend that the individual requirements are discussed with our technical department
